Your wedding day, or any big event, is going to be full of special moments, lots of love and lots of fun. But, there are a few ways to make those key moments stand out. Here are three of our favourite ways to create memorable moments for you and your loved ones.
Scent to Memory
Did you know that the part of your brain that processes smell, lives next door to the part which creates new memories? Me either! But it explains why walking past a frangipani tree reminds me of a summer in the Cook Islands, and why salty air at the beach brings me back to sitting in the backseat of an old Camry with Coolangatta beach on the horizon.
When it comes to your wedding day, the perfume you choose to wear will forever remind you of the moment you walked down the aisle, that first glimpse of your special someone, the kiss and all that followed. To keep that moment alive in your mind’s eye, wear a perfume (or cologne, gentlemen!) that you love, one that you reserve for special occasions, or even purchase a new bottle specifically for your wedding day!
You’ll always be reminded of your wedding day whenever you wear it in future.
Love letters
It’s normal on your wedding day to feel strange – you’re excited but nervous, even though you don’t think you need to be nervous, and all you want to do is reach out and call your other half. But some of the fun of the day is waiting until THE MOMENT at the ceremony to see and talk to each other. In moments like these, a romantic letter is perfect.
You take a deep breath, settle in for a quiet moment that’s just you, and read the words your best friend wrote for you.
Simple? Yes. Memorable? Absolutely.
This gives you a chance to centre yourself, reconnect with your love and you’ll find yourself feeling ready and at peace for the rest of the day.
A First Look
In the hustle and bustle of the day, it’s very easy to miss the people who are most important to you. Whether that’s your dad, your grandmother, your brother or child, taking a moment to be present with that person is so incredibly special.
A common but memorable way to do this is a First Look. (Key tip: make sure your photographer is ready and aware that this moment is coming – it’s so beautiful to capture and very special to look back on.) You duck into the bathroom or bedroom, put everything on from garter to shoes, jewellery to dress. When you’re ready, you let the photographers and your First Look viewer know, before emerging in a cloud of bridal glory.
WOW.
Your grandad is floored, your mum is crying, and someone is passing out tissues because this just got real.
You’re ready and it’s time. Your chariot awaits!
Until next time, keep making your special moments unforgettable x
